B & D Simple Start is Worthless
I bought this at Sam's Club about 7-months ago. Since then, I have kept it 100% charged in case I needed to use it. Yesterday, I tried to use it for the first time, but it did not have any effect in charging my car battery, which was dead because I had not driven it for several weeks. The charger was fully charged, and I used it according to directions. It appeared to work, just as described, with the green light blinking off and on for about 15-minutes. Then it stoped blinking and a steady beep is heard. I did notice that the small, interior lights of the car were somewhat brighter after the charging, so it did have some minor effect. (Prior to charging, the lights were dim). However, when I turned the ignition key, absolutely nothing hapened - not a single crank or even a clicking. The battery was not charged, and I was thankful that my car was only parked in my carport, and that I was not on some lonely or dangerous road, late at night. For me, this thing is totally worthless. If I can find my Sam's Club receipt, I will take it back and get a refund. Don't risk your life and/or safety on this piece of junk.

Wasn't simple and didn't start
Purchased this as my Saab had lost a bit of charge and wouldn't start. It was trying, but just not quite there. This product looked like it would be a handy thing to have in the long term too.

Arrived promptly, charged for an hour (thinking I didn't require much of a boost I didn't consider I needed it fully charged). Plugged in as instructed and not only did it not have enough charge to boost the battery, but afterwards the car had less charge than it started with.

Recognising that I hadn't allowed it to charge adequately I proceeded to let it charge for the 15 hours it requires. When I went to retry this morning there was not enough power in the car to light the dashboard and so the cigar lighter didn't register a current causing the Simple Start to think it wasn't plugged in properly. So now it's fully charged and unable to assist with my dead battery.

A friend came over to jump start the car and once running I thought I might try this again. When I plugged in the Simple Start with the car running and pressed the boost button the revs rose - normally an indication of increase load on the system.

I would avoid this product and go for a more conventional jump starter pack, these will allow you to actually start the car rather than hoping that enough boost is provided to the battery to allow it to start. I can't prove, but suspect that this actually puts a drain on the battery if the unit isn't fully charged. I wouldn't want to rely on this if I were stranded.

garbage
I have tried this product on four separate vehicles with three different users pouring over the instructions with absolutely no success. The old reliable products which clip directly to the battery are somewhat more expensive, but well worth the investment Not only is the product not worth purchasing, it may cost you more in the end if you have to somehow rely on it in any way. I have lost hundreds of dollars by relying on this garbage.

Didn't work for me
I bought this the last time it was a "deal of the day". It got here very fast, perfect condition, simple instructions. You simply charge it, and then use it to add enough charge to your battery for your vehicle to work.

Full disclosure: I have a Ford F250, which has 2 batteries in it. One day after it went from really cold to really hot, the batteries lost just enough charge for it to not turn over. No problem - I took my fully charged Battery Booster, followed the instructions, but it didn't make any noticeable difference in my truck.

I then used a traditional battery charger (also from Black and Decker), and charged both batteries. They have been fine since (about a month).

My recommendation would be to use this for a smaller vehicle that doesn't require as much juice to start.

Tidy Package but no juice
I bought this so called booster about 6 months ago and have attempted to use it 4 or 5 times with no success. I have a small car with a little 4 cylinder engine, so I have a small battery but this seemingly handy device could not "boost" my battery. I have no idea whether or not this feeble little box is doing anything at all. Perhaps I have one that is defective from the factory but I have no confidence now that a non-defective replacement is worth the money -- spend a little more for a "real" jumpstarter. This Black & Decker will just "boost" your wallet.
