Explorer B Sport Rack
Highly recommended...and made in USA. Arrived in 2 days, much earlier tahn expected. Light and fairly easy to assemble. Requres 2 people for a few steps. Works great atop our 2004 Totota 4-Runner. We've already used in twice for two 700 mile road trips and it freed up a ton of room in the vehicle so we can comfortably fit all our kids. It holds 4 medium size suit cases nicely. Thanks.

Beware of wind
Product was great on our trip West from Arkansas, thru Kansas and on to Denver. The constant wind from the south did not bother it at all. However, on our return trip we went south from Denver to I40 and the carrier didn't last very long. The difference was the wind was now blowing on the lockable side instead of the hinged side. The latches would not hold no matter what I did. The box was soon trashed. I advise anyone using this item to secure it with extra straps. I wish I'd known this ahead of time. It turned out to be an expensive item since I was only able to use it for about 70% of my trip, and now it's gone. The u-bolts fit perfectly on our Sequoia rack but it needed additional straps across the frame. I bought straps in New Mexico but it was to late. I hope you have better luck.

spacious, strong would recommend it
The product came dissembled. Putting top and bottom together required two people's efforts. Installation instruction is not as easy to read as Ikea's instruction but still understandable. Putting it on the rooftop might require a ladder and two persons(it depends on height of the person installs and the car). we had difficulties putting one of the U-bolt in but it got in after bending it a little. The whole process of putting it together is not that overwhelming. The cargo is spacious, it's long enough to hold 2 golf bags and 4 sleeping bag.(it can hold 3 golf bags) it stayed stably on total of 8 hours state highway drive. it does not cause too much noise and shocking to the car the whole trip. loading and unloading is pretty easy.It has most reasonable prices among hard shell cargos. I would recommend it to my friends.

You get what you pay for.
Great price but the product I received was flimsy when in the open position. The cover would not stay open. Assembly required. Maybe it was just a defective product. I decided to repair my sportrack elite xl instead. For about $200, the elite xl is a much better buy. I guess you get what you pay for.

Good Value
We added 5 strips of wood slats ( 1 1/2" X 5/8" X Lt ) to the bottom of box, between the ribs. Glued them on with tube of Liquid Nails. Made box lot stronger. We made our own cross racks out of a 2 pices of 5/4" X 5 1/2" X 44" PT. pine boards. Our Ford dealer wanted $249.00 plus tax, for a set of plastic ones. I came up with my own idea to attach my cross boards to the existing rails. Next step, center the box on the roof and drive one 1 1/2" screw through each end of the wood slats. You will need a 5-6' step-ladder to complete this step.
We packed this roof-box with about 140 Lbs. of cargo. Out trip was from Central Maine too Palm Coast Florida. Also, it rained for the intire 3 day trip. Not one drop of water was found within our new roof-box. Later during week we unscrewed the box and unbolted my home made cross-racks. This box will be used many more time. Also, it rides good on the highway at any speed between 0 - 75 MPH. If you need a good roof-box, this is the one.
