Design Issues
We purchased this product prior to a trip to Europe and parts of North Africa. We thought that it would be very useful for our electronics. We actually had to buy this product a second time because the voltage converter blew out (and the plastic around it melted slightly) as a result of my wife's hair flattener, though I'm not sure she read the wattage on it before using the voltage converter. Here's what we've found:
Pros
- Cheap
- Easy to use because the instructions seem somewhat dumby proof - using color coding and symbols. This isn't our first time traveling overseas, so we didn't need it.
- The adapters work without issue. They're great. You don't really need to color coding since it's really just about plugging into the outlet whatever fits best.
Cons
- As I mentioned earlier, the voltage converter burned out on us. In general it gets quite hot
- Design issue for wall outlets. The convertor adds to a adapter, which means it all gets heavy, so the whole thing curves downward or can easily fall out if the outlet is old or loose. We worked around this by finding a way to plug it into the floor or table in our hotel
We bought this product a second time just to get the the convertor, so it wasn't bad. It was relatively cheaper to do that than buy something else.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS!
I bought 4 different kind of voltage converters for my India trip and this was one of them specifically to plug in electronic equipments at lower wattage 50 Watt setting. I plugged in my Graco baby monitor adapter into this converter. It worked for 8 hours and then damaged my Graco adapter. Later I figured out why it damaged it. The converter gets extremely HOT! Thus it heated up the Graco adapter and eventually damaged it. I should have used an extention cord between the converter and adapter.
This product is terrible. There are better (and affordable) converters that do not heat up as much. For example, the 50 Watt converter made by Seven Star Model SS212 works great. I bought this from world gift center for only seven dollars. I use this for my wireless router 24/7 and it has not caused any problems so far. It does not heat up at all. I wish I had bought more of these.
The SMF-200 step down converter is also good but it does heat up a little bit. The good thing is that it provides 200 Watts for electronic equipments. I use this for my Sonicare tooth brush and Graco monitor receiver.

50 - 1600 watt Converter/Adaptor
It worked fine for charging our phones and curling iron but could not get it to work for AA battery recharger for my camera. Not sure what I did wrong. I liked the very sturdy plastic box which kept everything in it's place. 2009-11-18

Fun in Europe
I just returned from a wonderful trip to Ireland, Germany and Austria. The Power Line 0900-27 Global Power Travel Kit was an important element of my enjoyment, and its 1.7 pound weight was not detrimental to my travels. I used it every day and recommend it for anyone traveling outside the United States. 2009-09-29

foreign electrical plug adaptors
The main one doesn't project far enough to fit into european sockets. (two round prongs)
many times the european outlet is setin, therefore the prongs need to be longer or
a mechanism is needed to project the prongs.
further, nothing accomodates the ground portion of an american plug.
But that is probably not needed in Europe.
